President Trump Finally Arrives At The UK

The President of United States of America (USA), Donald Trump and the first lady Melania Trump have landed in the United Kingdom (UK) for a 4-day trip where the Republican will be hosted by the Prime Minister Theresa May.

Amidst growing protests in the Central London against the visiting Premier, the President met Theresa May at the Blenheim Palace following his comment on UK PM’s Brexit plans, labeling them as a dead-end to US-UK trade, however, hours after, he backtracked saying that the two nations ties are indispensable. Trump also termed his controversial statement as ‘fake news’.

The meeting with the British PM went perfectly at the Chequers as the two talked about ‘ambitious’ trade deals even though there was news of the two not getting along on the Brexit front. President Trump has been found to be fond of the late Sir Winston Churchill, the former PM of Great Britain for two terms, and was seen sitting in his chair at Chequers. Many are already claiming Churchill to be Trump’s political idol and it might be very close to being true as the President is expected to visit the late PM’s birthplace for Winston Churchill Exhibition later tonight.

While talking about the British public ahead of his tour, President Trump had said:

“I think they agree with me on immigration… You see what’s going on throughout the world with immigration… I think that’s why Brexit happened”.

Despite the continued protests, President Trump has met with Queen Elizabeth for afternoon tea at Windsor Castle. The President’s supporters rallied in Windsor ahead of Trump’s highly anticipated meeting with the monarch. The Queen hosted her 4th President at her weekend residence since the 1980s and 12th sitting President overall. The royal welcome was all the pompous and the kind Trump loves, making his visit a memorable one.

While convention and tradition are two things unknown to the 45th President of the US, it was all he had to witness while meeting with British Queen. While the President was seen walking ahead of the Queen on multiple occasions, the rest of the trip to her weekend residence worked just about normal; even that’s a little new when we talk about President Trump, isn’t it?

An interesting meet-up would have been on the cards had there been Queen Elizabeth’s husband Prince Phillips, who has now retired and does not attend such events. While Trump is all about speaking up his mind, Prince Phillips is no different as he openly and bluntly says what he feels right in the moment – he once said ‘you look like you’re ready for bed’ while meeting with the Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo wearing his traditional dress. During his visit to China, the Prince said to British students in the country ‘If you stay here much longer you’ll all be slitty-eyed’ while labeling Beijing as ghastly. It’s hard to imagine how the two like-minded people would have greeted each other, each having a knack of getting on the nerves of the other.

It would be interesting to see how the trade deals between the two nations go from there following President Trump’s 360-degree stance over the matter.
