Did Trump Have An Affair? And If So, Does It Matter?

33,451

In this day and age, everyone is more than willing to expose people for things that happened years, if not decades ago. This case is no exception. Stephanie Clifford, an adult film star also known as Stormy Daniels, claims that she had an affair with Donald Trump. Does this impact anything currently?

About 2 weeks before the election was to take place, Clifford was paid 130,000 dollars to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. She did so, and so did Trump’s lawyer, but Trump, however, did not sign on the dotted line.

Clifford states that because Trump has yet to sign it, that it is null and void. This would mean that she is allowed to talk about what happened, because Trump himself broke the contract. Clifford is suing Trump in order to show that the agreement was never formed, because it was never agreed to by all parties involved.

However, that did not stop Trump’s attorney from trying to keep her quiet. Part of the Lawsuit specifies that “To be clear, the attempts to intimidate Ms. Clifford into silence and ‘shut her up’ in order to ‘protect Mr. Trump’ continue unabated,” says the suit. “On or about February 27, 2018, Mr. Trump’s attorney Mr. Cohen surreptitiously initiated a bogus arbitration proceeding against Ms. Clifford in Los Angeles.”

Trump’s attorney even went as to intimidate Clifford, stating “[Trump’s attorney,] concerned the truth would be disclosed … through intimidation and coercive tactics, forced Ms. Clifford into signing a false statement wherein she stated that reports of her relationship with Mr. Trump were false.”

Trump’s Attorney has complained himself about the case, stating that he has not be reimbursed by Trump for the 130,000 dollars that he paid to silence Clifford from his own account. His bank even categorized the transaction as “suspicious” and reported it to the Treasury Department.

However, does the affair itself really matter? Well, probably not. Not only does this not impact Trump’s presidency at all, as he is already president, but it also doesn’t matter as it happened so long ago. This event occurred from 2006 and into 2007, so chances are, it would not have done much to impact anything, even at the time of the election.

But Trump has been accused of everything under the sun, so it is not shocking that an allegation like this would come to light. The efforts made to keep it quiet must mean that this affair with the porn star must be raunchy, but in the end, I doubt that it would in any way be impactful.
